Shanghai - the end

Day 30 (Sat) – Shang Hi!

Before we left Nanjing, we had to take a picture with our friend.

Temple stuff. It was touristy.
We went on a small cruise/boatride. The boat was full of people so we didn't get a good seat outdoors. We had beers. Felt weird drinking in front of teacher.

On the boat

We went out afterwards. It was free time. I got to meet Albert, Mika, Julian at some food place. Then we skipped around to clubs: Muse 2, Muse 2, Sky, food followed by a chilling out at Julian’s apartment [where they smoked weird stuff and talked and blah blah. i did not.] We got home around 4 or 5am and slept.

Lady Gaga at the club. [she was an impersonator, but she was pretty good]

Day 31 (Sun)
Sleep til 12:30pm, meet for dialogue at 2pm. It was Shanghai's Development planning place thing. Kind of like a museum of what they plan on doing since the world's eyes will be on Shanghai next year.

Development place, tony eating a plane
We went to play paintball far far away (Jake, Jack, Bochao). Just us four. It was weird. We had to dress in camouflage.

A beautiful pink building across from paintball

Bochao in his paintballing gear
We had a group dinner/dialogue with Jesse Parker. He's an old white man that's been living in China for a while. He does movies or something like that.
We met up somewhere afterwards, I think it was at Window's Too, then we went to Mika’s apartment to just sit around.

Day 32 (Mon)
Dialogues (some phone thing which was started up by a halfwhite/halfChinese man and became the official phone sponsor of the Beijing Olympics, Unitown design where they will design the place for the world event)
Dong Laoshi got us tickets to go on the skyscrapers! They were really high and fancy. A bit cloudy/rainy so we didn't get to go outside.

We're going up that building.

View from up there. Cloudy/pollutioning.

Us up there.

We split up for the optional visit to LiBing's house. LiBing is an artist. He was super rich. The people that went to his place got a free dinner at a Thai food restaurant in the mall.

My photography! Pretty huh?

LiBing is rich. He has a huge house. With the studio in it. Why is he so rich? I want to be that rich. He had an architect design it just for him, and theres a lot of security there too.

LiBing next to his arts.
I got back and went to Zapatas, a Western club/bar place. Then we went Go-carting!! Drifting!!! So fun. Then home.

Day 33 (Tues)
It was a tiring morning with 3 dialogues. I honestly don't remember what they were. T

This guy was basically just teaching us hints on how to Learn Chinese. That purple scribble thing, is his depiction of the internet and networking.
When when free time came, I went to Barbie world with Casey Bridget and Angela, then messed around at Sephora.

We had our final dialogue with MBA students (long and boring). And there was a problem with the language barrier. But after that we had our most fun and memorable last supper [All you can eat sushi, all you can drink soju] . We were crazy that night, including Teacher, and making cheers and singing. The food was delicious.

We were the first ones there

Gifts to teacher and TAs

Then almost everyone went to Muse 2 and Windows underground. I went home a bit earlier than everyone.

Day 34 / Day 1 on our own (Wed)
Goodbye dialogue

THE END. [finally]

I will not include the after dialogue because it's another 3 weeks. and i am bored of China posting.

Last Week in Nanjing [Rushed]

Day 25 (Mon) –
No internship because we called in and he said it was raining so it would probably be better if we stayed at the hotel.
Rainy day – shopping by myself at Zhong Yang Shan Chang
Dinner across st. random street food.

Day 26th (Tues) –
No internship again
Killed time with Jack Lo (ecoffee – funny funny, we walked into that coffeshop/restaurant and immediately, 10 waiters/waitresses welcomed us in their high pitched voices, bowing, and it was like a ripple effect. Totally unnecessary but funny. I liked it.)
Peter Cai travel agency man was invited to meet with us at night, but he wasn’t very helpful either because when he did send us an itinerary, the prices were doubled what we could get on our own.
Dinner from bird flu alley (rice w/ 2 eggs)

Day 27th (Wed) –
Picture of everyone in the dialogue in the front lobby. Other students from other schools or from Nanjing University watched as we got our picture taken. They took pictures of us too.
Internship. I had to go this day because we had to interview our supervisor and give him gifts and an evaluation paper to evaluate how we were.
I finally went to get my Mochi. And we walked home in the hotness.

The mochi was sooo goood. Heaven, in my mouth.

Don’t remember what happened next. Probably homework eat and sleep. What else is new?

Day 28th (Thurs)
Language partners
Last TaiChi class
Fashion lady with Jacquie, to do more bargain shopping. I didn’t get anything though.
Study at a coffee shop with Brent and Jackie. It was for our final. The coffee shop was nice. And that was the longest I have ever studied for a single exam.

Day 29 (Fri)
Final! Not too bad, I hope. But I can’t tell.
Mystery Nanjing scavenger hunt – failed. My group got to the first location then we gave up and went to the meet up place.

My team on the bus // my team asking for directions, I had to stay far away because strangers would bust out their Chinese to me, even if Eli [orange shirt] asked for directions, his Chinese is better than mine

I went on another boat afterwards at the final destination of the scavenger hunt with Bochao, Jess, Mindy, Austin, Kyle.

People on my boat. I sat in the very front. // Tony's SMUG face, trying to be Yao Ming

We showered, dressed up and then had the Graduation Ceremony/farewell dinner.

The scavenger hunt winners win free massages from the blind doctors. Jacquie was on the winning team but she had to meet up with a family friend so she gave me the massage as a birthday gift. It was quite nice.

We then went out to Nail Jazz Bar as our last night out and introduced to China Hookah bubbles. The owner and manager and one of the waitresses watched us the whole entire time and then talked to us and said we were cool then gave us their business cards telling us to come back and that they would be bringing in hookah bubbles the next day.

My drink: Delirium, sounds cool but it wasn't that good // Other people's drink. Yummier.

Kyle's smoke glass // Us at Nail Bar

Goodbye Nanjing

Sunday - Day 24.

We woke up early to get a tour of Zhonghua Gate – a 14th century castle. It was just a lot of open space and a couple statues, garden, stairs. But the cool part was the bow and arrows! We got to play with it, well, we had to pay. I almost got bull's-eye, but on the wrong target. I hit the person's target next to me. Whoops.

We ate lunch at KFC then went to the Yunjin Silk museum. It was so cool! I liked it.

We got to watch people actually weaving

There was a gift shop at the end of the tour with all types of silk stuff like pillows, bags, blankets, and clothes. Fashionable clothes. The room also was set up like a fashion show, so the Americans decided to go try out the runway. They turned on the lights and music and everything. There were also other visitors who thought it was a real show so they sat down in the audience to watch, only to find out that it was a funny show.

Nanjing Massacre Museum was next. Over dramatic, I think, but still, it's good.

Dinner at Aqua City Buffet – Delicious. It cost like $15, so compared to the rest of China food, it was expensive. But so good.

The group that was baller enough to buffet // Jake scratching his back with a fork. Ew.

The buffet place is located in the mall, so we did some shopping around. I did not buy anything, but that mall was huge. We did HW at Costa Coffee then went home when it was closed.

Day 23 (Sat) – An Eventful Day

Bike ride around Nanjing. It was fun.

Waiting for people to wake up and come out

Ugly fat dog

By a lake. Posing!

Dan, our TA

A big anchor

Naughty little boys

Climbing a statue again

A ship!

On the ship

Dialogue: Dafangxiang neighborhood committee

Hunan road – Dating Competition thing onstage where couples compete against each other. We had to jumprope together. Apparently we were cute because Jon and I got invited to round 2 which would be in Shanghai, and we won a fan which we donated. Also a pot. And towel and water bottle and all that random stuff that we didn’t care for.

This is the stage for the dating show we got on.

Hunan road at night

Huo guo – hot pot. This was yum, but not as good as Shabuzen.

Jazz/Nail bar. This place is so cool. They play Jazz music and have a big selection of beer. I had chocolate beer. It was so smooth and creamy and yum yum. I usually don’t like beer but that was good.

They have live music once in a while. But not that night.

My beer.

Brent has such good fashion...

Part of the group at the Nail Jazz Bar

We tried to go to 1912, which is the club/bar area but we failed because we couldn’t decide where to stay at. So we ended up at Castle Bar again. Ehh.

Jake in the 1912 area.
